Risk disclosure
Please read this before you trade or join the Mettlevouch list. It explains, in plain words, how you can lose money.
The short version
Trading forex, CFDs and crypto carries a high risk of losing money, including all of it. Only trade money you can afford to lose. Past performance and simulations are not a guide to the future.
Mettlevouch is rule-based trading software. It follows rules you set. It does not remove risk, it does not predict prices and it is not advice. Quantum Software Technologies Ltd publishes it.
Trading can lose you everything
Forex, contracts for difference (CFDs) and crypto are complex products whose prices can change quickly. A large share of retail accounts lose money. You should trade only money you can afford to lose entirely, and never money needed for living costs, debts or emergencies.
Leverage
Leverage lets you hold a position worth much more than the money you put up. It enlarges gains and losses equally. A small price move against a leveraged position can remove your whole deposit within minutes.
You may lose more than you deposit
Whether you can lose more than you deposit depends on your broker and your country. Some brokers apply negative-balance protection to retail clients and some do not. Ask your broker, in writing, before you deposit.
Loss rates
Many regulators require brokers to publish the percentage of retail accounts that lose money on leveraged products. These figures are often well above half. The loss figure for the executing broker is not published on this site yet. Check the current figure on the broker's own risk disclosure before you open an account. A published loss rate describes past accounts. It does not tell you how yours will do.
Markets can gap and stops can fail
A stop order is an instruction, not a price promise. In fast markets, at market open or around news, your order can fill far from your stop. This is called slippage, and it can make a loss larger than you planned.
Risks specific to rule-based software
- Rules that worked in the past can stop working when the market changes, and the software will keep following them.
- A mistake in a rule, such as a wrong size or a wrong direction, is carried out exactly as written.
- Software, internet connections and broker platforms can fail or be delayed. An order may not be sent, or may be sent late.
- Data can be delayed or wrong.
- Over-trading adds spreads and fees to every position.
The halt control
The halt control stops new orders. It does not close positions that are already open, and it depends on your connection and the broker being available.
Crypto assets
Crypto prices can fall sharply and without warning, and markets may be thinly traded, open at all hours and lightly regulated. Protections that apply to other financial products may not apply to crypto, and in some countries trading crypto products is restricted.
Regulation and protection
Different countries regulate brokers differently. Compensation schemes, where they exist, usually cover only certain failures and have limits. Do not assume you are covered. Ask the broker which regulator licenses it for your country and what protection applies to you.
Emotion and over-trading
Losses make many people trade more, take larger risks or change their rules to win money back. Rules written in advance help, but only if you keep to them. If trading is affecting your health, relationships or finances, stop and seek independent support.
Past performance and simulations
Past performance is not a guide to the future. Charts, calculators and simulations on this site are illustrative, not live data and not a prediction. They show how arithmetic works, not what will happen to you.
No advice
Nothing on this site is investment, tax or legal advice, or a personal recommendation. We do not know your finances. If you are unsure, speak to a qualified, independent adviser.
Who holds your money
Mettlevouch never holds, receives or transfers client money. Any trading money would be held by an executing broker licensed for your country, under that broker's terms. The broker's failure could cost you your money, and the protections that apply depend on the broker and the country.
Our conflict of interest
We receive rebates and referral fees from partner brokers once they are listed. This gives us a reason to want you to open an account. Compare brokers yourself and read the explanation of how we are paid.
Deposits
An account is likely to need a deposit from $250 AUD (or £250 GBP / €250 EUR / $250 CAD / $250 NZD / $250 SGD). It is your own money and it is at risk from the moment you deposit it.
Availability
Availability depends on where you are. Access is restricted in some countries and the position can change. Where trading is offered it is only through an executing broker licensed for your country.
